MSC will geocode any file, composed of any combination of commercial or residential addresses. Geocoding means to append the following data elements to the record:

• Latitude
• Longitude
• FIPS State Code (FIPS: Federal Information Processing Standards)
• FIPS County Code
• 2000 Census Tract
• 2000 Census Block

MSC will append the latitude and longitude based on the best available approximation that can be made to the address. The best approximation is the ZIP+4. The next best approximation is the ZIP+2 and in lieu of being able to use ZIP+4 or ZIP+2, the center of the ZIP code will be used to assign the Geocode.
